Miri, Sarawak – SOP Foundation has successfully extended its Student Adoption Programme (SAP) 2024/2025, benefiting 95 students from 48 selected schools across Sarawak. The initiative, which targets underprivileged students from primary and secondary schools, aims to provide essential financial support to ensure a brighter future for children from low-income families.
SOP Foundation reached out to students in diverse regions such as Lambir, Niah, Suai, Marudi, Sebauh, Sg. Asap, Tatau, and Balingian. Understanding the challenges posed by geographical distances between schools, SOP Foundation took the initiative to personally deliver the aid to each region.
As part of the SAP, each student received one-off financial assistance, along with brand-new school bags and stationery to better prepare them for the school year ahead. SOP Foundation has remained committed to supporting the educational needs of local communities, particularly those residing near its operations.

At SOP Foundation, we believe that education is key to empowering the next generation, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. By providing these students with the resources they need, we aim to foster long-term growth and uplift entire communities,” said Eric Kiu Kwong Seng, a member of the Board of Trustees at SOP Foundation.
This recent initiative brings the total number of beneficiaries of the SAP to 849 students since 2016, reflecting SOP Foundation’s continuous commitment to helping underprivileged students across the state.
Beyond its work in the education sector, SOP Foundation has spearheaded various community-centric initiatives, including the Young Achievers Award (YAA), Vision Care Project, and the Healthy Strides Malaysia programme, fostering a positive relationship with local communities. These programmes are aligned with the foundation’s goal of promoting mutual growth and contributing to the social well-being of the regions it operates in.
