MIRI- SOP Foundation proudly sponsored the SOP Primary Schools Choral Speaking Competition 2025, held at the district level, reaffirming its commitment to promoting education and empowering youth across Sarawak. Organised by SK Miri and hosted at Meritz Hotel, the competition gathered 308 pupils from sixteen (16) primary schools across the division.

The event featured captivating performances by talented pupils, evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges who also provided constructive feedback to inspire continued excellence in language and creativity. This year’s Champion title was awarded to SK Jalan Bintang, followed by SK Senadin as First Runner-Up, and SJKC Chung Hua Miri in Third Place. SJKC Chung Hua Pujut and SK Anchi completed the top five standings, placing fourth and fifth respectively.

Special awards were also presented, with Adelia Clarissa Anak Andy Sadar from SK Senadin receiving the Best Conductor Award, and SK Senadin claiming the Best Script Award.

Representing SOP Foundation, Board of Trustee Mr Eric Kiu Kwong Seng (邱冠森) emphasised the Foundation’s long-term support for youth initiatives. “We are honoured to sponsor this event and support meaningful school initiatives,” said Mr Kiu. “On Tuesday, we also supported the secondary schools’ choral speaking competition at Mega Hotel. At SOP Foundation, we believe education is a powerful tool that can transform lives. Events like this go beyond academics — they build confidence, communication skills, and nurture our future leaders.”

Renowned for its dedication to educational excellence and community enrichment, SOP Foundation contributed key financial resources, playing a vital role in the event’s success. The Foundation extends its warmest congratulations to all participating schools, teachers, and pupils for their exceptional efforts.

Now held annually, the choral speaking competition aims to enhance teamwork, confidence, and English language skills among primary school pupils in the Miri Division. The increase in participation—from fifteen schools last year to sixteen this year—reflects the growing enthusiasm and significance of the event.
