Miri – SOP Foundation proudly sponsored the Miri District Level Secondary Schools English Choral Speaking Competition, reaffirming its commitment to promoting education and supporting youth development in Sarawak.
Held at Miri Civic Centre, the competition attracted 260 participants from 13 secondary schools across the Miri District, with 20 students representing each school.
The event showcased captivating performances by talented students, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, confidence, and proficiency in the English language. The performances were evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges, who provided valuable feedback to encourage students to continue striving for excellence in communication and artistic expression.
The competition results were as follows:
Champion: SMK Taman Tunku
First Runner-up: SMK Chung Hua
Second Runner-up: SMK Riam
Third Runner-up: SMK Merbau
Fourth Runner-up: SMK Lutong
The Best Conductor Award was presented to SMK Riam in recognition of outstanding leadership, coordination, and stage presence throughout the performance.
The Best Script Award was awarded to SMK Chung Hua for producing an exceptional script that demonstrated originality, creativity, and effective use of the English language.
The event was attended by representatives from SMK Dato Permaisuri, Senior Assistant for Co-Curriculum – Mdm Law Ik Woung, as well as Mr Joseph Ling Tiong Ing from the SOP Foundation.
In her remarks, Mdm Law Ik Woung expressed appreciation to SOP Foundation for its generous sponsorship and steadfast support.
"SOP Foundation's contribution and commitment to providing meaningful platforms for students are invaluable in nurturing talent and strengthening English language education” she said.
Speaking on behalf of SOP Foundation, Joseph Ling Tiong Ing reaffirmed the organisation's dedication to educational and community development.
"Education remains at the heart of SOP Foundation's community initiatives. Through programmes such as choral speaking, we aim to nurture creativity, teamwork, confidence, and effective communication skills while inspiring young people to realise their full potential and contribute positively to society," he said.
