Nour Iman and Seberang Jaya Communities Benefit from SOP Foundation's Vision Care Project

KUALA TATAU – SOP Foundation continued its commitment to promoting healthy and quality living among local communities through its Vision Care Project, held at the Nour Iman Village Multipurpose Hall in Kuala Tatau, providing essential eye care services to residents in the area.

Following the first Vision Care Project held earlier in 2026, the second instalment of the programme organised by SOP Foundation saw approximately 101 residents from Nour Iman Village and Seberang Jaya Village participating in the initiative. The event provided free eye examinations conducted by the optometry team from SpecVision Optometry.

Following the eye examinations, residents identified as requiring corrective eyewear will be provided with spectacles, which are fully funded by SOP Foundation. The spectacles will be distributed to the recipients once they have been prepared by SpecVision Optometry. The initiative aims to improve access to basic eye care services and enhance the quality of life of residents by bringing essential health services closer to communities.

In his speech, Ramli bin Tema, Chief of Nour Iman Village, expressed his appreciation to SOP Foundation for selecting the village as one of the beneficiaries of the Vision Care Project.

In conjunction with the community outreach initiative, SOP Foods also supported the programme by introducing Merris Lite Refined Cooking Oil to the local community. The first 200 participants, on a first-come, first-served basis, received a complimentary bottle of the product, while the SOP Foods team conducted a product sharing session to highlight its features, benefits and usage.

Established in 2013, the Vision Care Project is one of SOP Foundation’s initiatives aimed at promoting awareness of healthy living and providing access to essential eye care services for communities.

Since its establishment, the programme has reached various communities, including Rh Buli, Kuala Tatau Semanok in 2025 and more recently, Rh Budut, Bayan Tasik Balingian, extending support through free eye examinations and the provision of spectacles for residents in need.

Through the Vision Care Project and other community-focused initiatives, SOP Foundation remains committed to supporting community well-being and improving access to essential healthcare services for communities across Sarawak.
