NIAH, 27 MAR — Continuing its commitment to improving community eye health, SOP Foundation organised a glasses handover session under its Vision Care Project at Rh Untol, Niah. The handover followed a vision screening and eye consultation programme conducted in December last year, benefiting residents of Rh Untol and the neighbouring longhouse, Rh Chrmi.

During the earlier screening programme, a total of 70 residents from Rh Untol and Rh Chrmi underwent vision checks and consultations. 52 residents who were prescribed corrective eyewear received their glasses during the handover session, ensuring continued support for better vision and daily wellbeing.

The Vision Care Project was carried out with the support of Miri Specvision Optometry, whose team conducted the eye examinations and consultations. All costs related to the screenings, consultations, and prescription glasses were fully sponsored by SOP Foundation, enabling participants to receive essential eye care services at no cost.

He reaffirmed SOP Foundation’s commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of local communities through accessible and meaningful initiatives.

Tuai Rumah Untol expressed his gratitude on behalf of the residents, saying, “We are truly thankful to SOP Foundation for caring for our community through the eye screening programme and the provision of prescription glasses, which have been a great help to our residents.”

SOP Foundation also extended its appreciation to the residents of Rh Untol and Rh Chrmi, as well as Miri Specvision Optometry, for their support in ensuring the success of the Vision Care Project.

The Foundation remains committed to reaching more communities and strengthening accessible and inclusive eye health initiatives across the region.
